United Composite Xtreme Composite Rail Rods

The Xtreme Composite Rail Rods are an anomaly. They are a complete departure from the other blanks on the market designed for the same use. These purpose built rods have a smaller tip ,more recoil and more lifting power. These new designs are in the form of 5 new 7’6” models. Each of the new blanks is actually different from the original 7’ models. The patterning and tooling was changed to allow for a slightly different action to accommodate the angler at a slightly longer length. These models have become the go to for big tuna fishing on the Long range type boats.

The United Composites GPX Series is the newest generation of UC’s rail‑rod blanks, designed as a major upgrade over the older CX and GP series. Across multiple sources, the GPX line is consistently described as:

• An upgrade to the CX rail rods
• Built with the same woven carbon fiber as the GP series
• Reinforced with an additional carbon layer that increases stiffness and lifting power
• Delivering roughly one full line‑class more power than the equivalent GP model

This extra carbon layer is the defining feature—it noticeably stiffens the blank, increases recoil speed, and gives the rod more backbone under heavy drag.
